LACK OF EQUIPMENT:
NEW AUTOCLAVE MACHIN IS HIGHLY REQUIRED IN THE OPTHALMOGY DEPT. OF NATIONAL MEDICAL COLLEGE HOSPITAL, KOLKATA. The machine is used for disinfection of medical equipment and clothing before operation and infection in eye during operation causes complete blindness.
A loan of Rs.750 crores from World Bank was wasted by the health dept. during 1996 -’97, by bringing and distributing costly medical equipment in rural and district hospitals without creating the infrastructure and appointing the technicians to run them. Ventilators were sent to the hospitals which have no ICU, x-ray, ultrasonography machines, microscopes were sent without power generators in the hospitals and without electric connection also. Most of the machines are still unpacked. Investigation started.
Recently substandard equipments are found in the O.T.s of many govt. hospitals like N.R.S, S.S.K.M, some companies and supply agencies are black listed but how did those reach to the O.T.s!
NEGLIGENCE IN IMPLEMENTATION OF PROJECTS:
3000 BLOOD SAMPLES WERE WASTED BY SOME TECHNICAL OFFICERS OF NORTH BENGAL MEDICAL COLLEGE, in March April ’11. The samples were collected from various antenatal and sex treatment clinics, truck drivers, sex workers by whole year under HIV centinal surveillance program, by which NACO will plan their national AIDS control strategy –N.F.H.S-4.for the next year. Unlike any other state West Bengal (formerly) couldn’t complete and submit the report for NACO. Responsible officials are temporarily suspended but THEY SHOULD UNDERGO THROUGH LEGAL TRAILS BECAUSE PEOPLE PAYING TAXES FROM THEIR HARD EARNED MONEY.
There are 30 new leprosy cases found in Kolkata metropolitan area in last six months of 2010. But previous left front Govt. closed leprosy dept. from govt. hospitals and merged them with dermatology Dept. Total 67 Corporation leprosy clinics are totally collapsed.
Ophthalmological test projects for school children are not getting proper attention. The budget was Rs.3.5 crores and Rs.05 crores for the year of 2009-‘10 and 2010-’11 respectively but the Health dept. could expense only Rs.04 lakhs and Rs.18 lakhs in respective years.

LACK OF SEXUAL CONCISENESS AMONG THE TEEN AGERS INCREASING UNWANTED PREGNANCY, WHICH CAUSING UNSAFE ABORTION, BY WHICH UTERUS INJURY BECOMING A REGULER PHENOMENON IN SUCH CASES WHICH TURNS UTERUS CANCER IN MOST OF THE CASES. THIS CHAIN SHOULD BE BROKEN FROM THE VERY BEGINNING.

DR. SUDHANSHU SHEKHAR CHATTOPADHAYA IS ACCUSED BY THREE ENQUIRY COMMISSION FOR THE DEATH OF MR. DEBOJYOTI MAJUMDER, died in Dec. 2005 under his treatment. Brother of the dead complained, he didn’t bought the operation equipment from Dr. Chattopadhaya’s agent and complained to the hospital super. After that the accused stopped the patient’s treatment and he died. The fourth commission is investigating the case again but GOVT. SHOULD MODIFY THE RELATED I.P.C.s IN SUCH WAY THAT SUCH DOCTORS CAN’T GET ANY UNETHICAL PROTECTION FROM LAW.
Health dept. should advertise in popular newspapers about the prohibited drugs and black listed companies and doctors. Mentioning only in websites can’t be effective.
